Diabetics looking for a sugar substitute were at first excited about the fact that they could now get their sugar fixes without guilt of affecting their blood glucose levels but then there were rumblings that there were sucralose dangers.
The reason that there have been some safety worries about sucralose, is recent studies have been performed on animals and the side effects have only now come to light.
The study revealed that animals showed, reduced growth rate, enlargement of the liver and kidneys, shrunken thymus gland, a decrease in the weight of the placenta and also a decrease in fetal body weights. These side effects also include a decrease in red blood cell counts, hyperplasia of the pelvis and increased cercal weight.
